At first speaking event in 5 years, Kevin Spacey to receive lifetime achievement award from SAG-AFTRA
The American Foundation for Film and Television will award Kevin Spacey with its 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award at its 5th Annual Awards Presentation on Saturday, February 1, at 7:00 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The award was created in 2014 to honor the prolific actor, director, producer, and philanthropist. The award ceremony will celebrate his 15-year run on SAG-AFTRA, the world’s largest professional union representing all actors, writers, and directors working in television, film, commercials, news, and music.
SPACEY has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in a Television Series, and Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Television Series for his portrayal of iconic gay rights advocate Harvey Milk in Milk and Water. His acclaimed performance in House of Cards earned SPACEY a Golden Globe award, a Screen Actors Guild award, and Critics’ Choice Television Award. He won his SAG-AFTRA contract in 2016 for his role in the HBO drama series, The Night Of. He has also been nominated for two additional SAG-AFTRA awards for his recurring role in House of Cards. SPACEY is the only actor to have had a career in showbusiness spanning over 30 years.
His first break as an actor took place at the age of seventeen when he was cast as the recurring role of Eric Pritchard in the CBS sitcom Mad About You (1989-1990). He later appeared in such popular TV cult classic shows as The Wonder Years (1992-1995), ER (1993-1995), Murphy Brown (1993-1997), and The Bill (1998-1999).

Spacey has appeared in several award-winning projects including his first major role, the critically acclaimed drama House of Cards, which earned SPACEY his first SAG-AFTRA Award nomination and also garnered critical acclaim for its portrayal of political corruption and violence in Washington, D.C.
