Adele’s Encore: A Night At The Mirage

Review: Adele offers heartbreak, wisdom and salty banter at long-delayed Las Vegas residency

Adele released her new album, 21, in the UK this year on her own Reprise Records label. She’s now returned to Las Vegas for five nights at The Mirage as the headline act for American Express’s Encore: A Night At The Mirage residency, and she made the occasion even more special for her fans with her new album release.

For any Adele fan, seeing her up close and personal in the context of her new album, I Will Thank You, is still a rare opportunity. When I first saw her in concert as part of the sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out sold-out residency at her first ever US show, I was blown away. She had the perfect mix of an exciting show that was all her own with the crowd, with a crowd of a thousand roaring with a mixture of adoration and adoration and an appreciation that was all her own.

The new album, I Will Thank You, was released on September 26th and now she’s playing the Las Vegas residency. That’s the only event that I have been able to follow with any level of detail, and as I write this, the night is in full swing.

I’ve attended the Encore shows a couple of times over the past four years and the shows at the Encore nights always felt like a dream come true. The atmosphere is always like something from the movies. The lights go down and the crowd is in such a sea of light and all of the stars turn to the floor at the moment that is right before the doors open and the show goes on. A dream come true.

The new material sounded incredible, much better than any of the previous material.
